The Safir family — whose name translates to "Ambassador" in Persian — was developed by Iranian engineers as a small, two-stage liquid-fueled rocket intended to deliver lightweight satellites into low Earth orbit. The Safir 1B is an incremental evolution of the baseline Safir design, incorporating modifications aimed at improving reliability and performance. Standing 22 meters tall with a diameter of 1.25 meters, it is a slender vehicle by international standards, broadly comparable in scale to early-generation orbital rockets fielded by other emerging space powers. Launches have taken place from the Imam Khomeini Space Center (also known as Semnan Space Center) in north-central Iran, the country's principal orbital launch facility.
