The Launch

The Saturn V, the most powerful rocket ever brought to operational status at that time, generated the enormous thrust required to place the spacecraft on a trajectory toward the Moon. The Mission

Armstrong and Aldrin transferred into the lunar module Eagle and began their powered descent toward the surface of the Moon.
